tea cups

“Magic of the mundane” might be one way to express the idea that the ordinary is really not ordinary at all. Today, I noticed for the first time how interesting these tea cups looked stacked on the kitchen shelf. They overlap in places and cast stark shadows on the wall. Spontaneously sketching the tea cups with ink and watercolour led me to pay attention to their details. I realized there is a little universe in this one corner of my home that I had never thought to look at before. Maybe that’s one of the perks of self-isolation in these pandemic days – it has forced me to focus on my immediate surroundings: the kitchen, the dishes and their shadows, and on the pots and pans and the chaotic orderliness of their placement on the stove.
